TORONTO, September 1, 2011 - The Cabbagetown Theatre Company presents the free-flowing version of Rapunzel – Unbraided!, a panto-style comedy for all ages at the 2011 Cabbagetown Festival. All performances are at the Necropolis Chapel, 200 Winchester Street, across from Riverdale Farm. Shows run 30 minutes and take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9, and 12 noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11. Join the adventures of a teenage Rapunzel as she tries to break free of her overprotective Mummy’s tower prison. With Mummy’s ab-fabulous spell preventing Rapunzel from getting out and experiencing the great big world out there, all she can hope for is that one day her “Prince” will come. And he does…but of course, not in the way she expects. It’s “be careful what you wish for” as Jack the Sidekick tries to help, but ultimately – it might actually be “Mummy to the rescue”. The audience gets to decide during a big Ballroom-Blitz big finish!

Rapunzel – Unbraided! is written and directed by Kim Sprenger, featuring the talents of returning favourites Wendy Akerboom as Edwina the Witch (Mummy);  Rebecca Becket Grace as Rapunzel; David Occhipinti as “Prince” and Basil Tamkei as Jack the Sidekick.

The Cabbagetown Theatre Company presents The High Flying Adventures Of Peter Pan from September 10 – 12 at the 2010 Cabbagetown Festival. It’s a raucously entertaining comedy for the whole family, featuring an eco-friendly Peter Pan, his underpaid and uncooperative assistant Tinkerbell, a Captain Hook with more chutzpah than Johnny Depp, and Hook’s loony, cake-baking sidekick, Smee.

The High Flying Adventures Of Peter Pan will be presented at the Necropolis Chapel, 200 Winchester Street, just across from Riverdale Farm. Shows are scheduled for Friday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12 at 12 noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are only $5.00 for both adults and children, and are available at the door. Shows run 30 minutes.

The show follows the adventures of the recently grounded Peter Pan and his not-so-helpful and not-so-feminine sidekick, Tinkerbell. Together they enter Never Neverland on a mission to save Peter Pan’s shadow, which has been kidnapped by the technologically-challenged Captain Hook and his off-kilter, pirate pal Smee.

Hilarity and Bollywood-style dancing ensue!
